Because of cracks in the spillway and other necessary repairs to its infrastructure, Griffy Lake will be drained dry this summer, and the unofficial dog park at the base of the dam will be used as a staging area for construction materials and equipment.

With the end of school just days away, many local high school students may have begun looking for summer jobs.

More than 50 runners and walkers beat the heat Saturday morning and completed a 26.2-mile marathon from the Southeast YMCA to the new Northwest YMCA to raise funds for the "Strong Past, Bright Future Campaign."
